Salt Lake Century bike tour

I went on my first bike tour with Scott on Saturday May 15, 2010. It went from the airport out around antelope island and back. We started from our house in Centerville though. So what would of been a 100 mile bike ride turned into a 50 mile bike ride. They had a couple of stops along the way. The first stop you got a snack and the last stop was lunch. I was able to keep going because I knew I had either a snack or lunch destination next. Scott has done this bike tour many times growing up but I haven't ever gone that far before or done anything like it. So it was fun to experience something new.

Scott's dad went with us and his sister Amanda went too. She's not in the picture because she didn't make it to the lunch stop. She had to turn around to get back to work that day.

My Dad/ Superman

On May 8, the day before mother's day Brittney's dad, Sterling fell off of their retaining wall against the driveway. He suffered a bad break to his foot and tore the ligaments in his thumb. The doctor told us that it was the worst injury he could of done to his foot. He broke and crushed the second bone in his foot and dislocated the other bones and tore the ligaments also. The doctor said that he will never be able to run again and it will be about 4 months before he can walk again. I guess they hardly ever see these kind of breaks but when they do they're pretty bad. So on Saturday he had surgery on his foot and thumb. He has a bunch of screws and plates in the foot also. He doesn't remember a whole lot of what happened until he got to the hospital. The doctor said that he suffered amnesia because of the shock he was in.
My dad has always been a big, strong superman to me and still is. We are very fortunate that nothing worse happened to him. It's very hard to see the man that you thought was indestructible get hurt. He will always be my superhero.

This is a picture of where he fell from. He fell off the edge of the top tier of the wall in between the basket ball hoop and the house. He hit the middle tier with the rose bushes and then hit the cement. You can't see it in the picture but there is a broken sprinkler head up top. He was trying to put topsoil throughout their yard and tripped on that sprinkler head.
