I'm so glad Weston (Elder Sill) is home. This is us when we first saw him at the airport in DC. It felt very surreal.
We went to the air and space Smithsonian museum. Scott loved it because he's a pilot.
On Sunday when we were there. We went to two different wards. We also visited the temple. That temple is so big. I guess it's second biggest to SLC temple. You don't see it until you come around a corner because of all the trees and then wam it's there. almost every night members fed us. Sometimes we would have two meals because they expect you to eat. We ate everything from Mongolian food to all kinds of African food.
We went to Mount Vernon one day and the Arlington Cemetery. At the cemetery we watched the changing of the guard for the unknown soldier.
This day we took a tour of the capital and we went to the botanical gardens.
This day we went to the national zoo (above); The picture is my brother riding down the hill at the zoo on my dad's scooter. We also went to the national cathedral. It was very pretty. It was probably one of the favorite things I saw.
This is the day that we toured the White house. Scott and I had to go through separate because you can't bring purses inside. When we went through we saw pres. Obama get in his helicopter and fly off. We then went to the natural history and american history Smithsonian museums. We also went to a sculpture garden.
We went to the newseum and the spy museum this day. Those pictures below are on the roof of the newseum.
Tyler got sick on our trip. My parents took him to the hospital. We think he had some kind of stomach infection. Poor Ty was kind of miserable for some of the trip.
Our very last day of the trip was father's day. We didn't have much time to sight see because we had to make our plane. We were able to go to Jefferson memorial though. That was the only one we hadn't seen yet.
We loved our trip to DC. It was very exhausting. We tried to see and do everything there; so we were running on little sleep and traveling in a 7 passenger Dodge Carrivan. We all felt like we needed a vacation from our vacation when we were done because we went nonstop. It was good to see Weston again and see all of the people he taught. They all truly loved Weston there.
